Wonders of Yosemite Last Saturday

Thanks to Bryant Burnette, one of our fabulous Naturalist and Backpacking Guides, for sharing these quick pics from last weekend’s Wonders of Yosemite Hike & Tour.

We’re all so excited – and relieved – about the recent snow in the Sierra.

Yes, we’re excited for winter fun to begin, especially snowshoeing among the Giant Sequoias!

We’re also relieved because the Sierra Nevada is the source for over 50% of California’s water. We need more snow to help us out of our current drought, so here’s hoping for plenty more.

As the saying goes, now we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and we’re pretty sure it’s not a train headed our way.

As for Bryant’s adventures this weekend, our Wonders of Yosemite Hike and Tour is a full day adventure touring Yosemite’s icons –

  • Yosemite Falls
  • Bridalveil Fall
  • Half Dome
  • El Capitan
  • Tunnel View

– plus a two and a half hour Giant Sequoia hike (or snowshoe). It’s a truly great way to make the most of a single day in Yosemite. If you want to know more, hike on over to the “Explore” section of this site, or just give our Recreation Desk a call at (209)379-2606 extension 3.

Enjoy!

The Forest is Open

An unseasonably warm day followed Thanksgiving. The temperature at Evergreen Lodge hit 65 degrees Fahrenheit and I had a nice 5 hour break from the Recreation Desk. Fighting off the inescapable post-Thanksgiving face-stuffing lethargy, I had to get outside and enjoy this clear and beautiful day.

Hello World!

Wednesday, September 24, 2014 was a fun milestone for us as we launched our fabulous new website!  We’ve updated the visual appeal to be more worthy of our Yosemite surroundings and added a bunch of functionality to make it easier than ever to plan the perfect Yosemite getaway with the Evergreen as your base.

The “Explore” section houses our new Recreation planner where you can narrow your search based on the type of activity you’re interested in, level of effort, price, month, and/or length of activity. We still want to talk to you to plan your adventures, but now you are also welcome to request your recreation activity through our online reservation form that is linked to each trip with a “Book Now” button.

New to our “Groups” section is an option to submit a digital request for proposal (RFP) for meetings, retreats, weddings and other events.

One of the most fun and personally rewarding parts of reinventing this site was our “Memory Lane” campaign effort earlier this year.  Hundreds of Evergreen guests wrote to us with stories and photos of their fondest Evergreen Lodge memories.  Many of those stories and photos are sprinkled throughout the site, and we hope to add more in the near future.

So breeze through the highlights quickly, or settle in for some entertaining and informative in-depth coverage of the Evergreen Lodge and Yosemite experience.  Let us know what you think, and feel free to share any stories and/or photos you have that might help others appreciate what we’re all about.
